Douce Mousse sunscreen is a physical protection (or organic) that sits on the surface of the skin and reflects the sun’s rays as opposed to chemical sunscreen that is absorbed into the skin. Some people have therefore mistakenly assumed that they had reacted to the sun’s rays but it was a reaction to their chemical sunscreen. Moreover, a lot of these sunscreens are very environmentally damaging.
We make no compromises !
Ingredients that we are not using, and which are commonly found in chemical sunscreens : Oxybenzone, Octisalate, Octinoxate, Avobenzone, (Parsol), Octyl Methoxycinnamate, PABA, Benzophenone, 2-Ethylhexyl-4-Dimethylaminobenzoic acid… Other ingredients that we are not using and which are frequently found into physical sunscreens : Polysorbate 20, perfumes or synthetic fragrances, PEG, Paraben, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium dioxide…
Natural and organic ingredients
All ingredients of Douce Mousse MD sunscreen meet the highest standards in terms of natural and organic formulation (without pesticides, renewable and biodegradable). Main ingredients: : Organic jojoba oil: One of the favourite ingredients of the Aztec people, jojoba oil is moisturising and humectant and is appropriate for more sensitive skin. Organic shea butter: Used in Africa for millennia, shea butter is very moisturizing and softens the skin. Organic Quebec sunflower oil: Rich in vitamin E, very moisturizing and softening. Buriti oil: Directly from the Brazil Amazonian forest, loaded with carotenoids, antioxidants and fotoprotectors. Prevents eventual cell damage due to exposure to the sun and gives a beautiful orange-beige colour to our sunscreen. Zinc oxide:Very effective natural ingredient for sun protection. Becomes transparent at the time of application when added into a high-quality formulation.
Almost all sunscreen using chemical filters are absorbed by our skin. In contrast, even natural ingredients such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide may be composed of nanoparticles, too small to stay on the skin’s surface. Search for products with the mention “without nanoparticles”.
High Protection with SPF 30+
An SPF 30 is an excellent choice and is sufficient for a sunscreen. Our sunscreen is labelled 30+ because the results obtained by an independent certified laboratory were higher than a SPF of 30. What is FPS or SPF? The protector rating is the SPF (Sun Protection Factor). It mainly measures the solar protection duration after application. We multiply the SPF by 10 minutes, which amounts to 300 minutes (5 hours) for a SPF 30. Your dermatologist recommended you a SPF 75? Tell him that none of the products with a higher SPF than 50 will be on the market with the new FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations. An SPF 75 will not offer better protection for your child. A lot of consumers mistakenly believed that a SPF 50 was twice more protector than a SPF 25. Duration is the only significant factor. In the marketing madness of solar products, some manufacturers take advantage of the disturbance and offer SPF 90 or even SPF 100.
Pleasant to apply formula
Physical sunscreen applies evenly to the skin without penetrating it. As soon as the screen becomes transparent on the skin, you move to another area of the body. It must remain on the surface of the epidermis to maximize effectiveness. A physical sunscreen is effective as soon as it is applied, unlike chemical filters that must be applied 20 to 30 minutes before being exposed to the sun.
Becomes transparent upon application: Unlike many formulas using zinc oxide, Douce Mousse ® sunscreen becomes transparent upon application due to the quality of its formulation.
Good viscosity: Good viscosity facilitates application, especially on children's foreheads so that the product does not run into the eyes.
Non-greasy: Yet very hydrating, this sunscreen is non-greasy.
No Strong Smell: A very subtle apricot scent that everyone will love.
Approved by Healt Canada
To be sold in Canada, all solar products need to have a NPN or DIN number attributed by Health Canada. Our sunscreen displays a NPN (Natural Product Number) because it does not include chemical filters, which are labelled with a DIN number. Notice that Health Canada refers to the FDA regulations (USA) for solar protections being sold in Canada.
